Watch Video Stories of Former Youth Exchange Students>>

Long-Term Youth Exchange provides opportunities to:

  • Learn a new culture and language
  • Be a student ambassador
  • Make friends for a lifetime
  • Become a global citizen

This High School eleven-month program involves living with up to three host families and attending school. Students become immersed in a new language and culture. Students must be between the ages of 15 and 19 at the time of departure and have at least a GPA of 2.75 or over. The experience begins the year before going to study abroad as they go through the application, selection, and six-month preparation process. The program value is equal to approximately $24,000, a student’s cost runs between $5-6,000.

How to apply

First, students should submit the preliminary application below at any time prior to September 1. Once this application has been received a local Rotary Club will set up a local interview. Following that, a link to the online robust full application and supplemental documents will be sent to the student for completion. Those are due by October 1 with final District interviews in early November.
